It is not often I get to witness a birth, let alone be a part of it. Ewes are famous for presenting me with lovely lambs early in the morning, already clean and dry and nursing.
On this fine morning, Rachel was trying hard and not much was happening. After waiting (imaptiently) for about 30 minutes, I went in and in about five minutes had two beautiful lambs under their mum's nose. Sadly, I discovered later that a third baby had been born earlier and did not survive because Rachel had such a hard time delivering the other two.
What an exciting thing, to assist in a birth and then to watch the babies grow.
